DESIGN SUMMARY
The design of the New Island Evangelical Community Church(IECC)facility shall reflect its core values to the teaching of the Bible and Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. The presence of a brand-new facility in North Point, Hong Kong signifies its continuous commitment to make Hong Kong as its home.

The new design should be:
HUMBLE AND SOLEMN, BUT NOT CONSERVATIVE NOR OLD FASHIONED.
BOLD AND RADICAL, BUT NOT CONFRONTATIONAL NOR OUTRAGEOUS.
AUTHENTIC AND RESPONSIVE, BUT NOT TRENDY NOR INSTITUTIONAL.
IN THE WORLD, AND NOT OF THE WORLD.

These unique characteristics must be further enhanced through its architectural design in a harmonious way.


THE CONCEPT

“7 RARE GEMS INSIDE A CRATE”
The Seven Core values have been the anchoring believes for the establishment of IECC in Hong Kong. They have guided the church development for the past few decades. We propose “7 Rare Gems inside a Crate” as a concept to reinforce the importance of these core values. “Architectural moments” in the design shall serve as constant reminders of the founding values of the church:

THE BEACON - OUTDOOR ROOF BLEACHER AND GARDEN OFFERING THE CHURCH TO THE SKY THE GARAGE - THE SEMI-OUTDOOR BASKETBALL COURT
THE ALCOVE - A SEMI-OUTDOOR VERANDAH ACTIVITY SPACE ON 4/F-8/F
THE VICTORIA REFLECTION - SOUTH-FACING TERRACES TO VICTORIA PEAK
THE HEART - WORSHIPPING HALL WITH STAINED GLASS IN-FILLED PANELS
THE COLONNADE - COVERED ARCADE ON THE G/F TO SERVE AS RECEPTION FOR VISITORS
